Our Market Was Cancelled. Here's How We Spent The Day Instead.

Prepping for a market can take a whole lot of time, so when it's cancelled, it can feel really disheartening. However, sometimes cancelling a market is the nicest thing an organizer can do for you. On this day, there was a weather warning in place, which meant standing outside in dangerous conditions, products likely being ruined, and in reality, absolutely no one turning up to shop!
I knew this was true, but I thought rather than lose the day as a whole, I'd spend the time I would've spent at the market working on my business from the back end.

Started the day with a pre-rain dog walk for good measure. Getting out into the fresh air always makes me feel better, and actually more productive. 10/10 would recommend.
When I came home, I made my obligatory list. Naturally, I added "walk dog" to the list for the immediate satisfaction of crossing it off (please tell me someone else does this, too!).
So, the rather ambitious list was as follows;
Walk dog.
Build website product page.
Write a blog post.
Finish new daisy styles.
Photograph products.
Take some time out for yourself.
Create REELs.
Market applications.
New product research.
...I told you it was ambitious. And considering it was already 10.30 am by the time I'd written it, it was unlikely I'd finish everything I set out to do. What I did do, though, was get started. I managed to get 2/3 of the way through some new (soon-to-launch) daisy earrings. Hot glue, resin, and sanding all accomplished, with only joining left to do. I did lose one or two big daisies along the way, which was a little heartbreaking (and a note to self not to rush through the list!).
Post jewellery design, I treated myself to a little GAIL's lunch (aka I took some time out for myself that was SO worth it). I then got some product photography ticked off before working on a few website pages and new listings. Nothing was a huge milestone in the business back end, but I did make progress, which meant actually, the day that had me in a bit of a funk early doors turned into a huge success.
Now...why have I shared my full day with you?! Honestly, because I am really proud of myself for taking the cancellation as an opportunity rather than a waste. And as a little reminder for you - or me next time this happens - that you can always turn the day around.
